Cublington Nursery School: Equal Opportunities AND DIVERSITY Policy.
Cublington Nursery School welcomes children from all sections of the community, from all cultural, ethnic, religious and social groups with or without disabilities.
Our waiting list is compiled on a first come first served basis with some exceptions:
- We aim to promote, through choice or resources and curriculum, respect and awareness within our children of all cultures and their festivals, food and clothing.
-
Our aim is to show respectful awareness of all major events in the lives of the children and families in the nursery school, and in our society as a whole and to welcome the diversity of backgrounds from which they come. We encourage children to contribute stories of their everyday life into the nursery school. We encourage parents/carers to take part in the life of the nursery school and to contribute fully. For families who have a first language other than English, we value the contribution their culture and language offer.
-
All children will be respected and their individuality and potential recognised, valued and nurtured. Activities and the use of play equipment offer children opportunities to develop in an environment free from prejudice and discrimination. Appropriate opportunities will be given to children to explore, acknowledge and value similarities and differences between themselves and others. Resources will be chosen to give children a balanced view of the world and an appreciation of the rich diversity of our multi-racial society.
-
Without indoctrination in any specific faith, children will be made aware of the different festivals and customs of others. We aim to do this by celebrating a wide range of festivals. We help children to learn about a range of food, cultural approaches to mealtimes and eating and to respect the differences among them
BIRTHDAYS
We will celebrate a child’s birthday at the nursery school. This takes place at snack time. If you wish to contribute, we would welcome a cake, a packet of biscuits or fruit (no grapes please) to share among the children rather than sweets. If for any reason you do not want your child’s birthday celebrated, please let us know.
