NEWSLETTER – AUTUMN TERM 2007

It is nice to see everyone settling back into nursery school so quickly after a long restful summer and welcome to all our new children and parents.  It has been a very busy and interesting week getting to know all our new little ones!

This half-term

The theme for this half-term is Jolly Phonics and we have a different sound every day with activities linked to it.  Please see the noticeboard in the kitchen for the week’s activities relating to this.

During this half-term we shall also be covering the Harvest.  As well as finding out where our food comes from, we shall be collecting things for our own Harvest Festival.  We will be asking the children to bring in a tin of something or some fresh fruit or vegetables. It will then be boxed up by the children who will also make a large card.  This will be delivered to the McIntyre Children’s Home in Wingrave and will take place the week beginning 1 October.

Operation Christmas Child

Once again the Nursery School has decided it would be nice for our children to be involved in Operation Christmas Child.  This is a registered charity dedicated to relieving the suffering of children abroad.  These children are homeless, live in orphanages, are without family support or children whose lives have been blighted by poverty, ill-health, natural disaster, conflict or war.  The idea is that we fill a shoebox with small items and this box is passed on to a child for Christmas.  If each child could bring in one item suitable for a child aged 2 – 4 years, our nursery children should be able to fill six shoeboxes.  There will be a list on the kitchen noticeboard of what can and cannot be included.  Please tick an item that you can provide.   Thank you in advance for your help.  We get good feedback from this charity and what we do really does help!

DIARY DATES

The photographer will be at Nursery on Monday 8 October between 11.15am and 1.00pm. Just in time to make those great Christmas presents – packs start at £9.00.  Details on the board in the kitchen.

The Christmas party will take place during the last week of term in December.  Details to follow.

Phoenix Cards

We shall also be having the Phoenix Card catalogues which have some lovely Christmas cards (supporting Cancer Research).  They are good quailty and reasonably priced (samples will be available to look at).  Catalogues will be available soon.

As ever, we encourage you to come and look through your child’s folder and record sheet with them towards the end of this half-term.  Please feel free to add your comments and share any observations you have made of your child’s learning at home.

Next half-term

The theme for next half-term (end of October – December) will be Winter and Christmas.  We will start with Halloween followed by Bonfire Night, Remembrance Sunday, Divali, Winter and finish with Christmas – glitter and all!!!!

The Nursery telephone number is 0776 111 4038.

Thank you. Anne
